But one person who has really shown true generosity is Bob’s niece Laura. She lives in South Carolina with her husband Jeff and her two adorable girls, Natalie and Carlie. She was an avid reader of our blog and knew of the struggles we had gone through to bring Garrett home. Besides thinking it was cool that we adopted an older child, she wanted to help us out financially. Although it was hard for me to accept her offer (to be honest, no one’s ever done that for me), we did and truly appreciate her gift.
Thank you Laura for being our angel. We hope to “pay it forward” one day too.

That is awesome to hear. I'm so glad Laura is willing and able to help you, and you are gracious enough to accept. I have a friend who has a hard time accepting anyone's help-and onyl recently has she allowed me to help her just a lil bit with her kids.
I hope that your car troubles and laptop troubles will be the LEAST of your worries for awhile.

That is a beautiful story. We had some help along the way that blew our minds as well - and although we are still struggling to catch up (it will take years) - the generosity of those who helped is unforgettable. Really powerful stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Everyone needs at least one angel to help us through this international adoption journey. How beautiful that yours is a family member. We are continuing to follow your story, Karen, and we are so glad that you are continuing to post. It was also so generous of you to make your blog public as so many people can and will be inspired by your story.
What a great neice you have. Those gifts are the kind we hope for but would never ask for. How great that she offered and that you could graciously accept. As Karen and Glen said, we all need a guardian angel through this.

What a beautiful post and although yes it is sometimes difficult to accept help it is wonderful to know you have people around you who love & cherish you and would do anything for you - it's heartwarming and you guys deserve it otherwise it wouldn't be happening for you - what goes around comes around and you guys will always be surrounded with love, the same love you have so freely given to your son, for many many more years to come.
